How to Punch Needle_ Tutorial

This article banner is for use only in this tutorial, which does not cover how to make a paws mug rug.

You will need:

• Punch needle 

• Pattern

• Yarn

• Fabric with a grid

• Scissors

• Felt Sheets if you want to make a coaster. ( Some people use soft felt sheets but I prefer stiff and thick felt sheets)

Instructions:

1. Choose the punch needle that matches your yarn weight (thickness). You don't want the punch needle hole to be too tight or loose for your yarn.

2. Choose the fabric you like, but keep in mind that it needs to have a grid (hole). Here are the fabrics I'm using as an example:

• Linen fabric: I'm using it for fine yarn

• Monk's cloth: I'm using it for medium or bulky yarn

3. Set up your frame.

4. Adjust the punch needle to different heights depending on your desired effect. I showcase only four levels of height, but you are free to adjust it to your liking.
